A Service of Comfort and Hope for Everyone Who Mourns
For some people, Christmas isn’t the hap-happiest season of all the year. Not everyone is excited and cheery about the Christmas holidays. For many people, the approaching Christmas holiday does not bring with it the joy and happiness that is advertised on television or in greeting cards.
Are you facing the Christmas season after the death of a loved one, a divorce, or are suffering from other emotional traumas? Maybe you are living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future. Or perhaps you are overwhelmed by holiday preparations and activities. Is this something you are experiencing?
Then the Blue Christmas service was made for you.
Blue? Yes, blue as in the blues. As in “I am feeling blue.”
Blue Christmas services have a quieter, more somber feel than a traditional Christmas worship service. Scripture, music, and meditations focus on the comfort God offers during dark times. There will be an invitation to light a candle which represents your burdens, griefs, sorrows, and/or all the things that make Christmas a “blue” time for you.
This service of worship is held on the longest night of the year, serving as a reminder of the darkness and grief faced by many of us living with loss during this time of year. Jesus offers to help carry our burdens and responsibilities.
Join us to find some peace together in your time of sadness and loss.
Everyone is welcome.
