Our church is doing a month-long challenge to pray the Lord’s Prayer every day. One part of the challenge is to keep the prayer fresh, so that it really connects with our heart and mind. In other words, if you feel like you are just saying the prayer from memory, and not being aware of what you are praying, start from the beginning again. Do this as many times as necessary to pray the entire prayer afresh each day. (You may find this to be a real challenge.)

This is the version we use in our church:

Our father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever.

Feel free to make the words your own. This is a prayer, a conversation and communion with God.

We hope this will not only deepen your prayer life but strengthen your spiritual life along the way.
