Bring your family or come alone to experience the thrill and excitement of the Birth Story of Jesus over 2000 years ago. The story of Christmas comes to life through this simple yet poignant outdoor production in the front parking lot of the Bryson City United Methodist Church.
This year there will be a new twist to its scenery. Visitors will see a paper-mâché donkey. a goat, sheep. and a life size doll standing in as one of our shepherds, as well as several new props. These new “cast members” were made from recycled materials to help care for creation. Our visitors will also receive an old traditional paper bag filled with an apple, an orange, candy, nuts, and something extra special for the children.
There will be a campfire-storytelling session every half hour. The times to hear about the story of Jesus’ birth around a campfire will be at 6:30 -7:00-7:30. Children of all ages will be invited to listen to Pastor Wayne Dickert while they roast marshmallows over our outdoor firepit.
Live Christmas music by the Glory Players.
The Best Way to Experience the Living Nativity
Drive, walk, bike, or whatever. Vehicles – van sized and smaller can be accommodated through the Living Nativity scene. Visitors may drive through or park in the back parking lot, located by the Restoration House off Academy Street, and walk on our lighted path to the Nativity. If you are walking through the nativity, we do ask that you please wear your mask.
New for 2020: Enter from the front entrance at 76 Main Street.
If you’re not familiar with the area, when coming from the Hwy. 74 (4-lane highway), take Exit 67 onto Veterans Blvd, then turn right at the traffic light onto Main Street. Go about 150 yards and turn right into the front lot of the church just past the church sanctuary entrance.
